It is said that Lincolnshire has the finest collection of medieval churches of any county in England. They range from towering Lincoln Cathedral, through towns such as Boston, Louth, Grantham and Spalding to the many fine village churches spread across our county. But our visits are not limited to just medieval churches – we have visited churches from other periods too and of other faiths including a mosque in Peterborough.

Each month, apart from December, we arrange a visit to a church within reasonable travelling distance from Spalding. Occasionally, we venture further afield into one of our neighbouring counties.

We are always made very welcome and are usually given a short talk about the history and major features of the church, followed by an opportunity to wander around the building at our leisure. We are then able to enjoy some light refreshments (usually tea and cake!) provided by members of the church.

At each visit members of the group pay a modest sum per head which we pass on to the church as a donation. We also pay for our refreshments.

We meet on the 4th Tuesday of each month from 2.00 - 4.00pm and details of each visit are issued at the beginning of that month.

Why not join us and visit some interesting and historic buildings? We are a friendly group, 20-30 members attend each month, and we are not limited in numbers. Perhaps you know of a secret gem we would love to visit?

If you are a member of our u3a and would like to join this group or would like further details, please contact one of the group leaders (see the group information above). For non-members please contact the Groups Co-ordinator .
