June 2024: Jashir Restaurant

On Wednesday June 26th  17 of us spent a very hot ( in both senses of the word) evening at the new Indian Restaurant - Jashir, in Spalding.

Overall, it was a very enjoyable evening with good company and good food .

Several learning points for us and them going forwards, I think.

Having a Buffet was for most people a good choice as they got to experience foods they hadn’t had before.

Having a Buffet without an indication of what you were eating and how hot it was caused a few issues. !! We have fed this back ...

Poppadom’s and Chutneys would have been better served as a starter to each table as broken poppadom’s looked like ( and I quote) "chicken feed" - also the chutneys swam into the main dishes when served like this. Again - useful feedback.

Something I hadn’t realised is that they don’t do tea and coffee !!!  To be honest I never thought to ask.

I had also misunderstood and thought we were getting a choice of deserts. However, they did produce ice cream, as well as the traditional Indian dessert which I enjoyed as did some others.

Portions were generous and the buffet bowls kept topped up. Most people thought the food was very good and asked to see the main menus. They have also said that any dish can be made less hot ( or hotter if you are one person 😉 )

We had our own room. The restaurant was quite busy, and they were turning walk ins away.

Of note, they were kind, we weren't charged for our no show, and they replaced a spilt pint of lager, free of charge.
