The consensus of the group was that the book, The Chalk Man by C. J. Tudor, was not badly written, her characters including creepy Eddie were well described without a lot of descriptive language. Overall the book was graded 2 and three quarters out of five. No one was desperate to read another by the same author because of the genre, the content was just too macabre.
