The Long Yarn

The Long Yarn comprised 90 cabinets topped with Perspex boxes containing scenes from the invasion of Europe which ended World War 2. The ‘twist’ – all the figures, tanks, boats, buildings and airplanes had been knitted or crocheted in wool right down to a box of matches and a packet of cigarettes. It was quite extraordinary, and photos don’t do it justice at all.

Members of the Needlecraft group booked the free entry tickets and we car shared for the visit. The exhibition now travels to America having visited several cathedrals in the UK.
