We had a special treat in store for us on Monday the 9th December 2024 - The Burtey Fen Collection in Pinchbeck were putting on a special Christmas Concert for the 60 of us who walked through their doors. A festive atmosphere greeted us as we chose our seats appreciating the decked out area where decorated, lit Christmas Trees stood beside their famous organs. The stage area was gently lit and there was a screen in the middle where we could watch the organ player's fingers skimming across the keys.

The overall concert was split into two halves, the first section the Wurlitzer a USA manufactured organ was played which is the same type as still being used at the Blackpool Tower today. Not only did we hear tunes ranging from 'Jingle Bells', 'Silent Night', 'Walking in the Air' and ending with party songs 'Knees up Mother Brown', 'The Hokey Cokey' etc we were told about the history of this particular organ and how it arrived to them from a dance hall in Exeter.
After a very entertaining forty minutes of humming, singing, tapping along we had an interval where we either chatted whilst having our mince pies or looked around the music memorabilia there housing pop and film favourites from around the 1950s/1960s/1970s!

Our concert resumed but this time it was the Compton which is a UK built organ, found at The Ritz in Tunbridge Wells and which unusually has its original surround containing multi coloured lights. It gave out slightly louder, stronger tones of 'Holy Night', 'Mary's Boy Child' various Christmas film tunes and we finished off this second forty minutes by all singing along together a range of Christmas Carols.
The whole afternoon was a delight and certainly beat an afternoon of Christmas Shopping!!! We were so well looked after and it was unanimously requested that we make a return visit Christmas 2025.
