12 members of the Out and About Group visited the Wildlife Haven in Peterborough. Glorious sunshine meant we enjoyed refreshments among the gardens, whilst watching the trains whizzing round the track.
Wildlife Haven was founded by Rev Richard Paten, 35 years ago. It was eventually taken in hand by Brian Pearce, a dynamic driving force not to be reckoned with! Through him many businesses, local and farther afield, have given resources andmanpower to help this amazing project get off the ground. A huge number of volunteers were on site doing a large variety of jobs.
Among the attractions are the Globe Hall and miniature trains running inside, where you can be in charge of your own engine, kids love it!
Thanks to Josephine for organising this – we had no idea such a ‘haven’ existed so close to the centre of Peterborough!

You can find out a lot more by looking at railworld.org.uk, where you may be tempted to take visitors during the summer.
