Fancy a game of Canasta?

The original game was invented in 1939 in Uruguay.  There are probably a number of variants, but we play a version called ‘hand and foot’ i.e. we have a ‘hand’ of 13 cards which we have to play before picking up our ‘foot’ – another 13 cards.  The purpose is to make up different types of canastas each containing 7 cards.

Difficult?  Not really, provided you can count and recognise the cards in an ordinary pack of playing cards.  We can teach you the rest.  It’s a fun and sociable way to spend a couple of hours plus it helps keep the brain active.
