This group is the original Reading group but due to its popularity a second group, Reading 2, was set up.
We have a book a month from the library which we all read. One person reviews the book at the meeting then we all join in a discussion. Often this leads to discussing social issues that the book touches on. It seldom dissects the grammar, etc. of the book. After we have completed that discussion, the group members will tell us what they have read, or not, that month and often they bring the book to share with the group.
Most of us joined the group to experience different genres of books as we do tend to stick to ones we know and love. The selections from the library certainly do that. They could be general fiction, murders, thrillers, biographies and non-fiction. Most of the books have been written in the last five years, some of well-known authors, some not. The picture here are two books that have been read this year.

Currently, we pay Lincolnshire libraries £40 for a year which we then split between the number of people in the group so that usually means between £3- £4 per member for the year - less than buying one paperback.
At the moment we do have some spaces in the group which meets on the 2nd Friday of the month at 10am, so if you fancy a bit of a read, do join us.
If you are a member of our u3a and would like to join this group or would like further details, please contact the group leader (see the group information above). For non-members please contact the Groups Co-ordinator.

Overall the book was graded 2 and three quarters out of five. No one was desperate to read another by the… Read more
